Olympic Pictograms

I haven't been posting because I've given my life to the Olympics since the opening ceremonies. For an interesting take on the Olympic Pictograms check out this video from the New York Times. I was out strolling and saw this old school 3D map and had to laugh because I imagined it as version 1 of Google Earth.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love you! Thought I'd share my Valentine's Day project. I was in an Anthropologie mood thinking of their window displays and wanted to do something fun but of course on a smaller scale. When Willie left this morning I put up hearts all over the door so he'd see the love when he got home.
I love the shadows the hearts make when the sun goes down!

Great Sand Dunes Custom Illustration

Happy Monday! Today I'd like to share another project that I completed recently, a custom illustration of the Great Sand Dunes for my friend Elizabeth. She saw some Colorado illustrations I did last spring (now for sale in my Etsy shop) and wanted a memento of her travels to the Dunes with her husband. This is what I designed for her:


I really wanted to capture the ripple effect of the sand when the wind blows over it. Sand dunes make a very interesting subject matter because of what you can do with positive and negative space, the light and the dark. Printed out the detail of the ripples looked really cool. I was so happy to be able to share my work and Elizabeth sent me this picture after she had it framed- whoo!
